Crochet a little Cactus | RiO Craft



Materials:
- I use Baby Summer and Amigurumi Yarn from ICE (in brown, light grey and green colour); 2.5mm hook
(it’s not nescessary in choosing yarn, remember to use suitable hook with yours)
- Fiberfill
- Yarn needle, scissors
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- inc: increase - crochet 2 sc in 1 stitch
- dec: I use Invisible Decrease single crochet
- BLO: back loops only
- sl st: slip stitch
- FPhdc: front post half double crochet
- BPhdc: back post half double crochet
- DEC: make 2 stitches become 1, keep original method of the stitch (for example: crochet 1 FPhdc together with 1 BPhdc: yo, insert hook through the post of stitch in the front, from right to left and pull up yarn, yo, insert hook through the post of next stitch in the back, from right to left and pull up yarn (there are 5 stitches on the hook now), yo, draw yarn through all loops on the hook // do the similar with FPhdc&FPhdc or BPhdc&FPhdc)
LET'S START
POT
- Use brown yarn, make magic ring with 6 sc, crochet continous without slip stitch
- R1: 6 inc (12)
- R2: (sc1, inc) x6 (18)
- R3: (inc, sc2) x6 (24)
- R4: (sc3, inc) x6 (30)
- R5: (sc2, inc, sc2) x6 (36)
- R6: BLO, sc all
- R7-9: sc all
- R10: (sc11, inc) x3 (39)
- R11-13: sc all
- R14: (sc12, inc) x3 (42)
- R15: sc all
- R16: BLO, sc all, sl st
- R17: ch1, (sc12, dec) x3, sl st (39)
- R18: ch1, (sc5, dec, sc6) x3, sl st (36)
- Slip stitch and break yarn, use grey yarn to continue
- R19: (sc4, dec) x6 (30)
- R20: (sc1, dec, sc2) x6 (24)
- Stuffing the pot
- R21: (sc2, dec) x6 (18)
- R22: (dec, sc1) x6 (12)
- R23: 6 dec (6)
- Break yarn, use yarn needle to put yarn through remaining stitches and pull to close the hole

CACTUS
- Use green yarn, leave a tail about 20cm to sew after, ch18, sl st into 1st ch to start crochet in the round
- R1: sc all
- R2: inc all (36)
- R3-11: (2 FPhdc, 1 BPhdc) x12 (36) [9 rounds]
- R12: DEC all (18)
- R13: DEC all (9)
- Break yarn, use yarn needle to put yarn through remaining stitches and pull to close the hole
- Stuffing the cactus

FINISH
- Use the yarn tail leaving when crochet cactus to sew it to the pot
- You can make small cactus with similar way or flower to decorate the main cactus, it’s up to you
